War in Leicester While we are amidst the war with neverending courseworks, we actually took some time off, geared up and headed towards a secluded area of Leicester to have another war among ourselves....
...with the addictive adrenaline filled pay-to-feel-pain game of paintball! This time I came prepared wearing my contact lenses to prevent myself from being a blind soldier again.
There is a huge difference paintballing this time compared to the last one I had months ago in Malaysia. (Other than the price of course, it costs RM 0.70 per bullet here, & to think I was complaining about the 10 cent bullet back home)
For starters, instead of just an armor plate around ur torso, we were given full overalls covering from our head to toe. This gives us the flexibility to crawl, dive, somersault around the terrain without worrying if our Sainsbury washing powder is capable of removing the stains.
The terrains here are huge with different kinds of scenarios such as capture the flag, maze, vip rescue, outpost, etc. to play from compared to the small area & options available previously in Malaysia. There were bunkers, streams of mud, trees, huts and even a howitzer thrown into the fray to make the game as loyal to the military as ever.
The rules are kinda different too since you don't "die" when your shot on the arms, legs, or any parts under the waist (including your precioussss down there) since they are considered as wounded areas rather than dead areas. Your only "dead" if you're hit on the torso, back and the head. Well, they really want us to suffer more bruises don't they?
Even the guns are nicer and shinier here.
The only drawback was our team was whooped pretty bad. And when I mean bad, it was reallly bad.
That is what you get when you have mix a bunch of first timers & amateurs (which had played only once before) into a team with no leader, strategy and aggresion whatsoever. We either: 1. Camp at the base regardless we are the attacking or defending team awaiting them to rush to our base and wipe us clean. OR 2. A few fools go all Rambo while the rest camp at the base regardless we are the attacking or defending team awaiting them to rush to our base and wipe us clean. Normally I'm one of the fools.
However, with all the cuts & bruises and of course the imbalance-ness of the team, it was all good fun for 24 of us. Well worth the experience.
And I think I am starting to like my battle wounds. Posted at 08:45 am by Astral86
